6/15/2006 – Turks Tidbits
Written By, Matt Kerr Broadcasting Intern Harrisonburg Turks If a four game winning streak had not solidified the Turks as contender for the Valley Baseball League title, a 12-4 rout over league leader Covington certainly did just that. On Thursday night in Harrisonburg, the Turks grabbed their fifth straight victory through balance, something that had been lacking earlier in the season. In six innings, Shawn Joy pitched to one hit and no runs, marking the first victory for Joy this year. On the other side of the ball many Turks got into the action, especially in the fifth, when nine Harrisonburg players crossed home plates. Stand out players on offense for the Turks include Clint Robinson, who hit a grand slam in the fifth, and Evan LeBlanc, who went four for five, including two doubles and a home run. The win brings the Turks’ record to 5-6.
