Turks Fall to Senators

6/20/2006 – Turks Tidbits

Turks Tidbits Written By Matt Kerr, Broadcasting Intern Spotswood High School Graduate Haymarket pitcher Josh Joy had one mission on Tuesday; cool the red hot bats of the Harrisonburg Turks. Joy took the task to heart, giving up only two runs on ten hits in eight innings pitched. The 4-2 victory for Haymarket was also helped by four double plays, the biggest coming in the ninth when Harrisonburg had the bases loaded and no outs. Harrisonburg’s defense was thrown a curve ball when starter Steven Ochs left the mound at the top of the third due to an injury. Kris VanZant filled in nicely for Ochs, giving up only four runs and seven hits in seven innings of work. VanZant also struck out ten Senators. The loss brings Harrisonburg’s overall record to 8-8 and improves Haymarket’s to 9-7.
