Woodstock Beats the Turks 3-2

7/11/2006 – Turk Tidbits

Turk Tidbits Written By Matthew Kerr, Spotswood H.S. Graduate Broadcasting Intern It was another pitching duel in Harrisonburg on Tuesday, a surprise when Woodstock came into the game last in ERA in the Valley League. What is even more surprising is that the River Bandits came out with the win. In a 3-2 Woodstock victory, the River Bandits’ starting pitcher, David Stringer, gave up only seven hits and two runs in seven innings of work to record the win. Harrisonburg’s Justin Wood pitched well also, giving up nine hits and three runs in eight innings. Harrisonburg was once again plagued by cold bats, something that was not expected to happen when the season began. On a high note, both Gary Martoccio and Clint Robinson recorded two hits. The loss drops Harrisonburg to 16-13.
