VALLEY LEAGUE WEEKLY HONORS – JULY 16, 2007 Complete Week Six League Notes Players of the Week Bradley Ray (Birmingham, Ala.), of the Front Royal Cardinals is a sophomore outfielder out of Auburn. He finished the week tied for the league lead in home runs (2), RBIs (7) and runs scored (8). Ray also compiled a .320 batting average, one double, a .600 slugging percentage and a stolen base. Brett Stewart (Niceville, Fla.), a utility player for Harrisonburg out of Appalachian State hit .375 with four runs scored and four RBIs for the Turks last week. Stewart would also add a double, two walks and a .438 slugging percentage to help lead Harrisonburg. Pitchers of the Week Daniel Malone (Blue Springs, Mo.), a righthander from Northwest Missouri State and the New Market Rebels went 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA. Malone won both games he started, pitching 14 innings, striking out 12, walking two and giving up 10 hits for the Rebels. He held opponents to a .192 opponent’s batting average and gave up just one extra-base hit over his 14 innings pitched. Russ Brewer (Norwood, N.C.), a freshman righthander out of Vanderbilt for the Waynesboro Generals, threw a complete-game shutout against Woodstock last Thursday. Brewer allowed just three hits, walked three and struck out four to pick up his third win of the season for Waynesboro.
