Written By Jessica Merrill James Madison University Sports Management Intern Harrisonburg, Va. – Tonight the Harrisonburg Turks pulled out a 7-5 win over the Fauquier Gators. The opposing team scored first once again plating a run in the top of the first inning, but the Turks soon followed with a run in the bottom of the second. Harrisonburg would break the game wide open though in the bottom of the third scoring six runs. Starting pitcher Ryan Ellison (Clanton, Alahttps://harrisonburgturks.com/NewsManager/Troy) was awarded a win for his outing tonight, pitching 5 complete innings, giving up 5 hits and 3 runs while striking out 5. Ellison improved to 4-1 on the season, while closer Garrett Parker (Duncanville, Texas/Howard) came in to complete the game improving his save record to 7. Big hitters for the Turks tonight included center fielder Jon Moore (Mokena, Illhttps://harrisonburgturks.com/NewsManager/Purdue) who went 2-for-5 on the night with 2 RBIs, third baseman Brett Stewart (Niceville, Flahttps://harrisonburgturks.com/NewsManager/Appalachian State) was 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI, while catcher Mike Pericht (Orland Park, Illhttps://harrisonburgturks.com/NewsManager/Saint Joseph) went 2-for-3 with a run scored. Designated hitter Andrew Franco (Destin, Flahttps://harrisonburgturks.com/NewsManager/Appalachian State) also had a hit for the Turks tonight with a run scored as well. The Turks will enjoy a day off tomorrow and then head off to Luray to face the Wranglers on Thursday night at 7:30.
