Cardinals Fly Away With Win Over Struggling Turks

Written By Andy May, Broadcasting Intern Bridgewater College Harrisonburg- Front Royal scored five runs in the fifth inning aided by three Harrisonburg errors and held on for a 6-4 victory. Jesse Henry (Shenandoah) broke the scoreless game open with a two-run RBI single in the top of the fifth inning. Henry was 1-5 with a single and two RBI’s. Bradley Ray (Auburn) was 3-4 for the night with three singles and two stolen bases. The Turks score three runs in the bottom of the fifth to close the gap to 5-3. Chris Murphy (Southern Illinois) pinch hit and finished the night going 2-3 with two singles and an RBI. Landon Camp (Oklahoma City) was 2-4 with a single, a double, and one run scored. Each team added single runs in the sixth and the bullpens were solid for both teams extinguishing any scoring chances in the final three frames. Left-hander Troy Graybill (1-1) (Manatee C.C.) earned his first win of the season for the Cardinals. Matt Singer (Seton Hall) pitched the ninth for the save. Starting pitcher Garrett Parker (Oklahoma City) received the loss for the Turks. The Turks left 12 runners on base in dropping their sixth in a row. The Harrisonburg Turks (2-8) travel to Luray to face the Wranglers (5-3) while the Front Royal Cardinals (6-4) travel to Covington to face the red hot Covington Lumberjacks (6-2).
