Turks Unable to Produce Runs in Loss

Written by Andy May, Broadcasting Intern Bridgewater college Harrisonburg- Haymarket pitcher Chris Greiner (Hartford) strikes out 11 as Senators beat the Turks 5-1. Greiner pitched a complete game for the Senators earning the win while pitching himself out of some difficult situations. He finished the game with six hits allowed, one earned run, and 11 strikeouts. The Senators did not take long to get going as they scored one run in the first inning off of a Chris Haynes (Le Moyne) single. Haynes was 2 for 4 with two singles and an RBI. Chris Chapman (Bethune Cookman) was on the hill for the Turks, but gave up seven hits and striking out five. Jim Kennedy (Rider) came in at the top of the fourth inning and struck out seven, allowing one hit and one run. The Turks were lead by slumping Zach Castleberry (Yavapi) who broke his slump, going 3 for 4 with three singles. The Harrisonburg Turks (9-16) travel to Fauquier to take on the Gators (14-8) while the Haymarket Senators (10-15) host the Luray Wranglers (17-7).
