NewsOK online, powered by the Oklahoman Parker Goes the Distance for OCU Garrett Parker turned in a complete-game pitching performance for Oklahoma City University in a 6-2 victory over Texas Wesleyan on Tuesday at Jim Wade Stadium in the NAIA Baseball Championship’s Opening Round Field 2 Tournament. The Stars, ranked second in the NAIA, moved to 49-7 and into a 2:30 p.m. game today against LSU-Shreveport. Texas Wesleyan (40-21) will play the McKendree (Ill.)-Southern Nazarene winner at 6 p.m. today. Parker, a junior right-hander from Duncanville, Texas, worked nine innings, struck out 10 and allowed six hits and two walks. Parker finished the job in 2 hours, 17 minutes and registered 112 pitches. It was the first complete-game effort of his career. Texas Wesleyan scored first in the game, but OCU answered with a run in the bottom of the first inning. Steve Vitale launched a line drive that dropped deep in right field for an RBI triple.
