Shawn O’Neill Named Turks Player of the Week

Left-Handed Pitcher Shawn O’Neil earns the second Turks Player of the Week for the 2012 season.  O’Neil is a junior from LaSalle University, and hails from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  In the past week O’Neil made 3 appearances out of the bullpen, throwing a total of 9 1/3 Innings Pitched, and allowing just 3 hits in that span.  O’Neil can dominate hitters out of the pen with the help of a sharp fastball, that can overpower hitters.  Along with the 3 hits allowed, O’Neil only allowed 1 run, and tallied 9 strikeouts to total 20 strikeouts on the year, 5th in the valley league.

O’Neil has come in strong out of the bullpen, and shown success all season long.  He 5th in the valley league in low ERA, posting a 0.95 Earned Run Average.  O’Neil also leads the valley league in saves with 4 (tied with teammate Josh Karr).  O’Neil has proven a strong arm and gritty mentality relieving the mound in crucial points in ballgames and shutting the door.
