Matt Rose Named Week One Turks Player of the Week
When Garrett Ford and Joey Roach committed to come back in 2014, the Turks were very please. The fact that they brought a big reinforcement in Matt Rose is even better.
Rose is off to a great start in the first week+ of the season. Matt has come in swinging to the tune of 14 for 29 at the plate (.483) with two doubles, one triple and a game-winning, extra-inning home run at Woodstock. Matt pitches and plays infield at Georgia State in Atlanta where he will be entering his junior year in the Fall.
A native of Melborne, Florida, Matt’s talent and hard work have led to him being drafted by the Toronto Blue jays out of high school (24th Round, 2012) and Freshman All-American honors at Georgia State. Rose is very highly thought of on the mound and at the plate but will be resting the arm this summer and focusing on the leather and wood.
Congratulations to Matt on the hot start. We are thrilled to have our Georgia State Panther trio of Rose, Ford and Roach in the Turk flock for a big 2014 summer.
