Valley League Releases 2016 Schedule

The Valley Baseball League has released it’s schedule for the 2016 season. Several changes have taken place within the league that will effect the season.

The Aldie Senators withdrew from the league siting lack of community and sponsor support which leaves the league with eleven teams.

The Charles Town Cannons moved to Purcellville, VA and will be playing their home games at Fireman’s Field in downtown historic Purcellville. The team will retain their name and be the Purcellville Cannons. For directions to the new ballpark check out http://www.purcellvillecannons.com/ballpark/directions/.

A league vote passed the move of the New Market Rebels to the North Division to entice a bigger rivalry between the three Shenandoah County teams; Strasburg Express, Woodstock RiverBandits and the New Market Rebels. The North will now be made up of six teams including the three above mentioned and also the Front Royal Cardinals, Winchester Royals and the Purcellville Cannons.

The South Division will be made up of five teams; Harrisonburg Turks, Staunton Braves, Waynesboro Generals, Charlottesville TomSox and the Covington Lumberjacks.

The 42 game season will open on Wednesday, June 1st and end on Tuesday, July 26th. To view the full 2016 schedule, go to http://vbl-stats.bbstats.pointstreak.com/schedule.html?leagueid=1142. Click all to view league or click on individual teams.
