Baseball is a small world and longtime friendships are made through summer baseball. The Turks have had a special tie to the Troy baseball program since Head Coach Mark Smartt coached the Turks in 1994. This summer he’s sending a pair of  Trojans to Harrisonburg; Dominick Miller and Cale Bartolero.

Miller is in his first season at Troy University after spending his previous two years at Pensacola State College. As a sophomore in the shortened 2020 season, Miller truck out 21 batters in only 18.2 innings. The 6’0 southpaw played four years at Escambla High School in Florida, earning First Team All-District Honors and posting a .098 ERA as a senior. Mike has a pro potential, as he was rated the No. 23 draft prospect in the Sun Belt Conference on D1Baseball.com for the class of 2021.

Bartolero is one of the top collegiate catchers in the country, as he earned Preseason Second Team All-American honors from Collegiate Baseball. Bartolero hit .394 as a sophomore last year, recording a hit in all 17 games and collecting 28 hits in total, ranking 12th nationally and tops in the Sun Belt Conference. The 6’0 205 pound backstop  is a product of Woodstock High School in Georgia where he earned Georgia Dugout All-State First Team honors following his senior season in which he hit .400 and drove in 40 runs.
