Across collegiate baseball, several Turks players were impressive over the last week, including some notable pitching performances.
On the Mound
Adam Riggleman (Glenville State) was dominant on Friday, as the senior right hander tossed eight innings of two-run ball earning a tough-luck no-decision in the Pioneers’ 5-2 loss against Concord. Riggleman allowed only six hits and two walks while striking out 13 opposing batters in what was his longest appearance of the season.
Season stats: 3-4, 5.68 ERA, 50.2 IP (leads team), 54/28 K/BB, .258 BAA
Garret Simpson (Eastern Kentucky) held Southeast Missouri scoreless in five innings of work on Friday evening. Simpson walked and struck out just one hitter each, and was aided by two ground ball double plays and a pickoff on the basepaths. The Colonels were victorious, winning 8-0 to salvage a split of the doubleheader. Simpson also lowered his ERA to 4.40 on the season, the lowest it has been since early March.

In the Batter’s Box
Caleb Bartolero (Troy) was very productive in the Trojans’ weekend series at Coastal Carolina, collecting two hits in all three games and hitting 6-for-11 with three RBI in total. He also scored five runs in the series to go along with three walks as Troy swept the Chanticleers to improve their record to 10-8 in Sun Belt play.

Conor Hartigan (James Madison) is heating up at the dish, collecting four hits in a three-game series at UNC Wilmington over the weekend. In Sunday’s contest, Hartigan went 2-for-4 with a solo home run. The senior is currently riding a 12-game hitting streak that dates back to April 3, and over that timespan is hitting .440 (22-for-50).

Peyton Crispin (Oklahoma City) recorded hits in four of the five games that the Stars played over the weekend. His performance was highlighted by a 2-for-3 day against SAGU (Texas) in which Crispin scored three runs with two walks and two RBI, including a solo homer, in Oklahoma City’s wild 17-14 victory. Crispin also had a multi-hit day on Saturday against Wayland Baptist, increasing his batting average to .329 on the year.
