The Turks were looking to break their little 3 game skid as they traveled to Waynesboro to take on the 2-6 Waynesboro Generals.

Carlos Marte would get the game started with a single through the right side and would get all the way to 3rd before being stranded there. The Turks would call on Will Carter (0-0, 0.00 ERA) of Ranger College to start. Carter would start the game cruising as he would get through the first 3 innings only giving up 1 base runner on a walk in the 2nd inning but Carter would get into some trouble in the 4th. A leadoff single, balk and single would set the stage for Generals DH Pearce Howard who would hit a sac fly to center to bring in the first run of the game.

The Turks bats would stay quiet until the 6th. Connor Hartigan would get the inning started with a single, extending his hitting streak to 5 games. After a wild pitch moved Hartigan to 2nd, Michael Rosario hit a line drive to left-center that scored Connor. Rosario would make his way to 3rd and in the middle of Austin Mueller’s at-bat, would score on a wild pitch to give the Turks the 2-1 lead.

The offenses would stay quiet until the bottom of the 8th. Ben Sieracki, who came on for Carter in the 7th, would give up a 1 out double on an unfortunate bounce off the infield that found its way over 1st baseman Jordan Sweeney and into shallow right field. Waynesboro would get a single from the next batter who would steal 2nd, putting runners on 2nd and 3rd with only 1 out.

Sieracki would bear down and get Generals 2 hitter Jase Felker to strike out, but the first pitch to the next batter would be a wild pitch that scored the runner from 3rd and after a throwing error from catcher Austin Mueller, would score the runner all the way from 2nd giving Waynesboro the late 3-2 lead. In the last call for the Turks they would get a 2 out single but strand the runner at first to end the game on the losing side of a 3-2 effort.

The Turks (2-4) have the day off tomorrow to recoup before playing the same Waynesboro Generals (3-6) at home Thursday 6/17 with the first pitch scheduled for 7:30 PM.
