It’s been a great weekend in college baseball and this second edition of the Turks update reflects just that. Here is what your Harrisonburg Turks did on Friday, Saturday and Sunday: John Hines (Lynchburg) appeared in two games for the Hornets. In four innings of work, the junior from Smithfield, VA walked two and yielded no hits, runs, or earned runs. Jeff Carroll (OSU) pitched his first save on Sunday. The southpaw scattered one hit and struck out one Purdue Boilermaker in 1.1 innings. Dean Cademartori (SIU) had a pair of doubles over the weekend against conference rival Bradley. His six two-sackers puts him fourth on the Salukis. Joe Meador (VCU) knocked in a run in each of his three games this weekend against William and Mary and scored three runs on Sunday alone. Meador’s 37 runs is good enough for second in the Colonial Athletic Conference behind teammate Scott Sizemore. Reggie Watson (IU) stole a base in three of four games versus Minnesota. His dozen steals ranks him second on the Hoosiers. Eric Fussell (SJC) continues to pitch well for the Pumas, earning his fourth win of the season against Quincy. The 6’4” junior gave up four earned runs on 10 hits in seven innings of work. Clay Kovac (ISU) showed his versatility on Saturday by playing third base instead of pitcher against South Dakota State. He went 2-4, one of which was a double, and scored two runs. Tony Thomas Jr. (FSU) showed his long-ball potential on Sunday by cranking his second homer of the season in a loss to Wake Forest.
