MEADOR COLLECTS CAA PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOD, MAR. 29 3-29-05 RICHMOND, Va. – On Tuesday, Mar. 29, the Colonial Athletic Association named Virginia Commonwealth’s centerfielder Joe Meador (Mechanicsville, Vahttps://harrisonburgturks.com/NewsManager/Lee Davis) CAA Player of the Week, after hitting .733 (11-for-15) in the Rams’ conference opener at Towson. Meador registered a double, two homers, four runs batted in and six runs score as VCU took two of three from the Tigers. The junior outfielder had a pair of four-hit games and a three-hit performance from the lead-off spot as the Rams piled up 27 runs for the weekend. The effort raised Meador’s batting average to .438 for the season, which ranks him second in the league. VCU has earned a CAA weekly honor for six out of the seven reporting weeks. The Rams (14-5, 2-1 CAA) will visit James Madison for the Dukes opening conference weekend in Harrisonburg, Va. Friday’s contest is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at Long Field/Mauck Stadium, while the weekend pair will begin at 1 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
