Wunderlich Named Big Ten Co-Pitcher of the Week

Junior improved to 2-0 with a career-high seven strikeouts. EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State junior pitcher Kurt Wunderlich was named Big Ten Co-Pitcher of the Week on Monday by the conference office. Wunderlich takes home his first career Big Ten Pitcher of the Week award after leading the Spartans to a 17-5 win over West Virginia in last weekend’s Big Ten/Big East Challenge. The right-hander picked up his second win of the season with a seven-inning shutout performance in which he struck out a career-high seven and allowed just four hits and one walk. Michigan State, now 4-2, finished the weekend 2-1 in Challenge games. Wunderlich will be playing for the Harrisonburg Turks in the Valley Baseball League this summer.
