2002-03 TURKS Alumni E.J. Shanks continues to shine in his senior year with the OCU Stars. Shanks along with fellow OCU team mate and 2004 TURK Cameron Clarke, have been named to the SAC All Conference Baseball Team. During the NAIA Region VI Championship Tournament, Shanks collected his 15th win on the year, which surpassed the OCU season record he shared with another TURK alumni, Blake Hendley. OCU pounced William Jewell (MO) 18-4 as Shanks pitched five innings and surrendered five hits, three earned runs and two walks, and he struck out one, putting him four strikeouts shy of claiming the school’s season record. In that same game, 2002-03 TURK alumni, Dave Marlett, highlighted the third inning by belting a 3-run home run. The bomb was Marlett’s 17th of the season, and the senior also collected the school’s career home run record with fifty-four replacing Slade Swammer who had fifty-three home runs from 1986-88. The Stars won the Region VI Tournament by defeating Houston Baptist U. 19-2 on May 16th. Cameron Clarke hit four for six with two runs, a home run and three RBI’s to lead OCU (68-5) in hitting.
