Front Royal, Va., June 9, 2005- Sophomore first baseman Clint Robinson (Troy) went 2-for-5, two runs scored, and drove in another three runs to help lead Harrisonburg to a 7-2 victory over Front Royal on Thursday night. With the win Harrisonburg improved to 3-3, while Front Royal fell to 2-3. Harrisonburg jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the top of the first and never looked back. Freshman Shawn Benson (Yavapai JC) pitched six strong innings, allowed one run on five hits, while striking out six to pick up his second win of the season. Just like in Benson’s first win of the season, Benson’s college teammate Chris Fessler (Yavapai JC) worked the final two innings to earn his third save in as many opportunities. Sophomore Will Folk (Newberry) suffered the loss for Front Royal. Folk pitched only two complete innings, giving up four runs on five hits. Harrisonburg is looking to take two in a row from Front Royal. The Cardinals will travel to Veterans Memorial Stadium on Friday night, with a 7:30 p.m. start.
