6/14/2006 – Turks Tidbits
Wednesday’s night game against the Winchester Royals was rained out. The game will be made up on Monday, June 19th. On Tuesday night the Turks got their 4th straight win beating Staunton 8-1. New arrival LHP Matt Baugh (U.Az) struck out 8 of 20 batters in 6 innings. RHP Brannon Johnson (U. New Orleans) came in to strike out 6 of 9 batters he faced to get the save. Several other new arrivals made an impact in their first game of the season. Third baseman Josh Dew (Troy State) hit a 3 run home run in his first at bat in the VBL. Dew ended up 2-5 with 4 RBI’s for the night while his team mate first baseman Clint Robinson (Troy State) went 2-4 with 1 RBI. Congratulations to first baseman David "Moose" Dennis being named Week 1 Turks Player of the Week. Dennis hit .500 (9-18) with 4 RBI’s in his first 5 games with the Turks. Dennis is transferring to Oklahoma City U. and is excited to have the opportunity to spend the summer in Harrisonburg getting to know his fellow OCU team mates; Brandon Harrigan, Ryan Rachal and Bobby Spain. Tomorrow, Thursday, June 15th the Turks (4-6) host the Southern Division leader, Covington Lumberjacks (7-2). Game time is 7:30 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Stadium. Come out and cheer your Harrisonburg Turks on to another victory.
