Turk Tidbits Written by Matt Kerr, Spotswood H.S. Graduate Broadcasting Intern Close calls have been the Harrisonburg Turks’ season. That is why Saturday night’s game with the Waynesboro Generals was no surprise. In another one run battle, the Turks needed one big play to get the victory. That came in the sixth inning, after a botched fly ball had already scored one Turk. Anthony Soto stepped on and connected one into a gap in the outfield, scoring the runners on first and third. Soto’s only hit of the night gave Harrisonburg the game winning run in a 3-2 ballgame. On defense for the Turks, Tim Wheeler got the start, giving up five hits and two runs in seven innings of action. Both Danny Wells and Josh Dew pitching an inning from that point, Dew recording his fourth save of the season. The win brings Harrisonburg to 16-11.
