Front Royal Takes Down the Turks, 11-5

Written By Jessica Merrill James Madison University Sports Management Intern Harrisonburg, Va., – Tonight the Harrisonburg Turks fell to the Front Royal Cardinals by a score of 11-5. It was in the sixth inning when the Cardinals, ahead by a score of 3-2 at the time, scored six runs to break the game wide open. Big hitters for the Turks included first baseman Brett Stewart (Niceville, Flahttps://harrisonburgturks.com/NewsManager/Appalachian State) who was 2-for-4 on the night with a run scored and two RBIs and catcher Andrew Franco (Destin, Flahttps://harrisonburgturks.com/NewsManager/Appalachian State) was also 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs. Designated hitter Mike Pericht (Orland Park, Illhttps://harrisonburgturks.com/NewsManager/Saint Joseph) was also a big contributor going 1-for-3 on the night with a run scored and an RBI. Stewart, Franco, and Pericht all had towering homeruns during the game as well. The Turks will travel to Covington tonight to play their last game of the regular season at 7:30. The Turks will have Monday off while a few teams finish up their regular season schedules and will begin their playoff games on Tuesday, seeding is to be determined.
