Chase Sonen named GLVC Pitcher of the Week Rensselaer, IN Saint Joseph’s College’s Chase Sonen (RJr., Cary, IL/Cary-Grove) has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the week of Mar. 3-9. Sonen earned the award, his first such honor from the GLVC, on the strength of his performance in the Pumas’ 8-2 victory over Ashland University on Thursday. He pitched five shutout innings, striking out three and walking two, and did not allow a single Ashland runner to advance past second base. For the season, Sonen is 2-1 with a 4.91 earned-run average, and has a current streak of 12 straight scoreless innings.
