Turks Alum Drew Granier Has Successful First Season

RHP Drew Granier (U. Louisiana-Monroe) is finishing up a successful first season with the Vermont Lake Monsters (Oakland A’s Class A). Granier had an impressive 1.91 ERA in 28.1 innings with 1-1 record in 7 starts. The right-hander tossed 34 strike outs, 22 walks, and 21 hits, 11 runs and only 6 earned runs.

Granier made his mark in the Valley Baseball League for the Harrisonburg Turks in 2009 and 2010. In 2009 Grainer was 5-1 in 44.1 innings with a 2.64 ERA and 49 strikeouts. In 2010 he was 6-1 in 72.2 innings with a 2.97 ERA and 84 strikeouts. He was drafted in 2011 by the Oakland A’s in the 32nd round his senior year.
