Brown and the Wildcats Win 2012 CWS Championship

Former Harrisonburg Turk Bobby Brown will soon be sporting a 2012 College World Series Championship ring as he and his fellow teammates at the University of Arizona won the national title by completing a two-game sweep of two-time defending champion South Carolina Monday in Omaha, Nebraska.  Brown, who played for the Turks in 2009 and 2010, was named to the CWS all-tournament team and hit .366 with 12 RBIs, three doubles, six walks and a home run in the Wildcats’ 10 postseason games.

College World Series

In game 2 of the CWS, against UCLA, Brown went 1-for-3 with two RBIs.  In a win against Florida State, which clinched the berth in the best-of-three-finals, Brown went 2-for-2 with a homer, two RBIs, two runs and three walks.

In game 1 of the championship series, Brown went 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.   He walked and scored a run in the title-clinching game.

Regionals

Against Missouri he went 4-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored.  Against Louisville he went 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored.  In the regional he ended up hitting a total .467.

Super Regionals

In game one of the Super Regionals against St. Johns, Brown hit a game-tying RBI in the bottom of the 10th inning.  Brown moved to third on a base hit and two batters later scored the winning run.  He finished 2-for-5 that game with two RBIs.  In game two, the final game of the Supers, Brown went 2-for-5 with 2 RBIs again.

For the Season

Brown played in 55 of 65 Arizona games and started in 50.  He primarily played as the designated hitter and finished hitting .348 for the season.  He had five home runs, seven triples, and 13 doubles.  He scored 44 times and had 59 RBIs.  He had a .551 slugging percentage which was second on his team. On the base paths he was 7-for-7 stealing.

* All Pac-12 team Designated Hitter. 10th in the Pac-12 in batting average, 5th in slugging percentage, 7th in RBIs.

* Tucson Regional All-Tournament Team Designated Hitter.

2009 Turks Season

Played for the Harrisonburg (Va.) Turks in the Valley Baseball League in 2009 … Turned in a league-best .350 batting average … Represented the Turks in the league All-Star game, earning the North Team MVP award … Named the Week 4 Valley Baseball League Player of the Week
