North Defeats South in Abbreviated All-Star Game

The North topped the South 2-1 after lightning delayed (and eventually prematurely ended) the 2012 edition of the Valley League All-Star game.

The South may have lost, but it’s dominant pitching lineups still showed up for fans to take notice. The southern pitching corp didn’t allow a hit until the fifth inning, and Harrisonburg all-star Dillon Ortman (3-2, 3.77 ERA), who pitched the second inning, deserves a portion of the credit. The southern compilation recorded eight strikeouts before the game was called in the top of seventh, one of which was Ortman’s.

The North limited the South to five total hits. At the plate, the Turks in attendence combined to go 0-4 with one walk and two strikeouts.
