Last summer, Chris Pike was carried off the field after he closed out the final game against the Winchester Royals in the 2012 Valley Baseball League Championship. The 6-0 180 pound right-handed junior from Fordham will be returning to Harrisonburg with all intentions of helping the Turks repeat. Pike recorded a 1.57 ERA with 37 strikeouts in 23.1 innings last season for the Turks. He posted a 3-0 record with 3 saves, the most impressive being that final game against Winchester when he pitched the last 3.2 innings and struck out 5 batters. Pike received two Player of the Week awards last summer, one for the Turks and one for the Valley League. As a freshman at Fordham Pike was named to the Louisville Slugger Freshman All American Team and selected to play in the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team. He remained as one of Fordham’s weekend starters as a sophomore, starting all 12 games he appeared in. Chris went 4-2 with a 5.21 ERA and 59 strikeouts in 76.0 innings pitched.
