Smartt Heading to Harrisonburg This Summer

Sophomore Chase Smartt joins the Turks from Troy University, where the 5-10, 185 pound third baseman/catcher started in 54-57 games played as a freshman. We look forward to seeing the same type of form that made Smartt the only Trojan to have at least 270 putouts and 75 assists defensively during the 2016 season. Smartt has been productive for the Trojans during their spring campaign by posting a .256 BA, in 90 at bats, with 19 runs, 23 hits, 3 doubles, 2 home runs, 11 RBI’s, 9 walks, and 12 strike outs.
Chase is the son of Troy Head Coach Mark Smartt who was the 1994 coach of the Turks.  A number of things have changed since Smartt coached the Turks so we are anxious to have him return to Harrisonburg  and see his son take the field of the new Veterans Memorial Park.
