Woodstock, VA. – Scoring first on the road is usually the sign of a close game to follow. Harrisonburg plated a run in the Top of the 1st inning, as Joe Lytle (OKCU) singled to score Ty Andrus (Wingate), and the Turks appeared to be on course.

Instead, the Riverbandits offense was the star of the night banging out 12 hits (all singles) enroute to a 10-3 win at Central High School in Woodstock.

Jordan Braniff (Glenville State) and Connor Golden (Marietta College) led the way with three hits and two runs scored each. The Bandits plated three runs in the first and two in the second chasing Turks starter Jarrod Taylor (New Orleans).

Woodstock pitcher Nick Fuchs (Gannon University) settled down and held Harrisonburg to just four hits and two runs over 6 innings of work, earning the win and lowering his season ERA to just 1.93. Luke Samson (Erskine College) threw the final three innings for Woodstock allowing just one hit, one run and earning the save.

The Woodstock offense plated four insurance runs in the 4th inning and one in the seventh, roughing up Turks reliever John Gregory (Longwood) as well. Danton Hyman (Newberry College) singled and scored twice for Woodstock.

For the Turks, Bryan Arias (UTSA) was 2-4, he, Lytle and Tony Beam (UTSA) each drove in a run. The Turks committed three errors in the field as the Riverbandits pulled away for good.

The loss snaps a 2-game winning streak for the Turks (3-6) who are on the road at 7 PM in Purcellville Tuesday. Woodstock improves to 5-3 and will travel to Winchester to face the Royals. Game time is also at 7 PM.
