The Turks sign two Shenandoah University Hornets, 2017 Turks returnee first baseman Luke Nussman and infielder Tristan Baker.
Nussman is a 6’ 3” 220 pound left-hand junior from Kingsport, TN. As a sophomore, Nussman received the following accolades All-ODAC, 1st team, All-South Region, D3baseball.com 2nd team. All-South Region, ABCA 3rd team and All-State, VaSID 2nd team. His career stats as a Hornet is .371 batting average, a on base percentage of .417 and a slugging percentage of .495. Coach Kevin Anderson says Nussman is an excellent hitter, has All-America potential and is a hard worker.
Nussman came to Harrisonburg and had a productive summer for the Turks posting a .333 batting average.
Nussman’s Hornet teammate, Tristan Baker will join him in Harrisonburg. Baker, a 6-0 170 right-hand junior from Williamsport, MD. Last year as a sophomore, Baker received the following accolatees, D3baseball.com Team of the Week, 3/7, All-ODAC, second team, and All-South Region, ABCA 3rd team, and Academic All-State. Baker’s career stats for Shenandoah University is .334 batting average, .409 on-base %, and .394 slugging %.
Coach Anderson says that Baker is good contact hitter and a mainstay in the middle of their infield.
We welcome these SU Hornets to Harrisonburg for an exciting summer of Valley League Baseball. Due to bad weather Shenandoah University will open their season on Saturday, February 24th.
