The Harrisonburg Turks are set to begin their season tonight, Friday, May 31, at Veterans Memorial Park facing the Charlottesville Tom Sox. The first pitch will be thrown at 7:30 p.m. by the game’s sponsor, Strategic Financial Group, to kick off the Valley Baseball League season. With eight stand-out players returning from last season, in addition to the new players, Head Coach Bob Wease is excited to get started and see what these athletes can do.
The team is fresh off three evenings of batting practice, and Coach Wease likes what he is seeing. “We are better than last year. Last year we didn’t have the ‘pop’ (that we have this year),” Coach Wease said following practice last night.
A few players to keep your eyes on include: shortshop Zach Budzik a rising sophomore, first baseman Josh Madole a rising junior who is a returning player, and pitcher Austin Koehn a rising senior, all from UNC Greensboro. “Everything looks good. The position players are really, really looking good,” Coach Wease said.
As mentioned earlier, tonight’s game is a Pack the Park night sponsored by Strategic Financial Group. The organization focuses on financial and retirement planning whether you are entering retirement or planning for it and is located at 4757 Spotswood Trail in Penn Laird. Bring the coupon printed in Thursday, May 30th Daily News Record for free admission to tonight’s game and help us cheer on the Turks while having some family fun. Thank you to Strategic Financial Group.
We look forward to seeing all of you at Veterans Memorial Park tonight
