Two Tennessee Tech Hurlers Added to the 2020 Pitching Staff

Tennessee Tech has filled their coaching staff with some familiar faces to the Turks. Head Coach Steve Smith coached the Baylor Bears for years and sent a lot of players to Harrisonburg. Assistant Coach Cooper Farris is very familiar with the Harrisonburg Turks having coached them from 1995-2000. Farris was head coach at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community Coach from 1989-2009 and was another pipeline for recruiting for the Turks. 

The Turks welcome two Golden Eagles from Tennessee Tech to take the mound at Veterans Memorial Park.

Brett Roberts, a right-hand pitcher and middle infielder from Lethia Springs, GA is 6-1 and 175 pounds. Roberts was a four-year letter winner as a shortstop at North Atlanta High School in Atlanta. His senior year he batted .438 with 36 runs scored, 38 RBI, nine stolen bases, 15 doubles, three triples and a whopping 10 home runs. As a junior, he hit .430 with seven home runs and 16 RBI. Roberts was named to All-Region 7 AAAAAA Team and to the APS All-Star Game as both a junior and senior. He earned Perfect Game Honorable Mention status in 2017 and 2018 and PG High Honorable Mention honors in 2019. Roberts is majoring in EXPW/fitness and wellness and was named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.

Solomon Washington, also a right-hand pitcher from Franklin, TN is 6-0 and 195 pounds.  Washington was a three-year starter at Centennial High School in Franklin. He was a  two-way player for CHS, pitched and played the infield. He was named to the 2019 Perfect Game Preseason All-American Southeast Region Second Team and earned All-Tournament Team honors twice while playing for the Nashville Knights travel team in 2018. Washington is majoring in EXPW/pre-physical therapy.
