The Valley Baseball League has released it’s 2021 schedule. The season will open on Saturday, June 5, and conclude the regular season on Friday, July 23, with the playoffs beginning immediately thereafter. The eleven team league is scheduled to play 42 games in the regular season. The All-Star game will be held on Sunday, July 11, at James Madison University Veterans Memorial Park in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
In an effort to cut back on travel expenses, the league voted to add doubleheaders on weekends where squads will face a team from the opposite division to play two seven-inning contests.
VBL Commissioner Bruce Alger said that in the midst of the COVID pandemic teams will be following Virginia Governor Northam’s guidelines for outdoor events. Social distancing for fan seating will be followed, mask wearing and careful sanitizing of the stadiums will be made.
After missing the 2020 season due to COVID we know that our collegiate baseball players and our loyal baseball fans are anxious to get back on the field. The Valley Baseball League looks forward to welcoming everyone back to a great season of summer baseball.
