Turks Sign two College of Central Florida Patriots

The Turks welcome two Patriots from the College of Central Florida, Nicolas Calero and Brenden Vern.

Nicolas Calero is a 5-11 190 pound rising junior that plays short-stop for the College of Central Florida. The right-hander is from Miami, Florida.

Nicholas is having a productive spring for the Patriots so far. He’s posted a .322 batting average in 31 games. He’s had 90 at-bats, produced 26 runs, 29 hits, 6 doubles, 1 triple, 3 home runs, 21 RBIs, 18 walks, and has 2-1 stolen bases.

Nicholas isn’t a stranger to the Valley Baseball League, he played the 2021 season for the New Market Rebels. He recorded a .234 batting average in 125 at bats, scoring 18 runs, 28 hits, 4 doubles, 1 triple, pounded in 16 RBIs, had 24 walks, and stole 13 bases. 


Branden Vern is a 5-11 190 third baseman that transferred from Florida International University to play at the College of Central Florida. The rising right-hand sophomore is from Lakeland, Florida.

Branden  has recorded a .237 batting average 21 games so far this spring for the Patriots. He’s had 59 at-bats,  6 runs, 14 hits, 3 doubles, 11 RBIs, 9 walks, and has 2-1 stolen bases.
